What Does Content Moderation at Scale Look Like?
an interesting note re: scaling image moderation. in the past 24 hours: at least 500 thousand images in posts (not considering # of images, just if an image was in the post) 86 thousand avatars 500 thousand url thumbnails 58 thousand videos. that's a lot to moderate!
Dan says "content moderation" is like the process for producing drinking water and people don't understand how much work is involved in the way they might understand water filtration.
Wanting the raw feed, ideologically, is like wanting to drink raw milk!
Ted: Raw milk drinkers who are reinventing pasteurization from first principles!
Dan: ... who are in effect speedrunning content moderation!
